Marvin Bagley III – Sacramento Kings

The Sacramento Kings will likely be hosting a “yard sale” once again this upcoming year, as they are gunning for a new league record 16 consecutive seasons without making the playoffs. This is about the only record the Kings will be breaking anytime soon, as De’Aaron Fox, Tyrese Haliburton, and rookie Davion Mitchell are the only bright spots on this roster.

It appears that Buddy Hield could be on the move soon after he was almost traded to the Lakers on draft night and Marvin Bagley III may be right behind him, as the former second overall pick seems to be unhappy with his current situation in Sacramento.

Injuries have played a role in Bagley not being able to reach his full potential with the Kings, but they really do not have much talent to help him out either.

Through three seasons and in a total of 118 games, Bagley has averaged 14.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and has shot 50.0% from the floor, making him another productive trade target for depth purposes in the New Orleans Pelicans’ frontcourt.

Who knows if Marvin Bagley III would be alright with the idea of being Zion’s back-up, but he does fit the mold of being an athletic, versatile big man that New Orleans can play around with in rotations, so he would definitely see a lot of time on the floor.

Adding the Kings forward to a lineup consisting of Zion Williamson, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart, and Devonte’ Graham makes for a very athletic and sneaky good rotation that could really punish teams in transition offensively. What the Kings would want for Bagley is definitely a mystery at this point, but they could possibly get away with trading a couple of draft picks for him.

With Marvin Bagley III set to enter the final year of his rookie contract, he is definitely a very favorable player for the Pelicans to add this season in search of a postseason berth. They would not be tied down to him long-term and his contract would get absorbed using their $17M TPE, so everything would work out in New Orleans’ favor in this trade.
