How This Trade Impacts Washington Wizards
Trading away superstar players is never an easy thing to do. Getting back fair value for All-Star and All-NBA caliber players is never easy, but the Washington Wizards would be receiving solid value in this deal.
Bradley Beal is a star, but replacing him with a player such as CJ McCollum would enable the Wizards to keep a relatively similar game plan in place. Beal is a tier or two above McCollum, but the former Lehigh star is one of the best shooting guards in the NBA.
McCollum had the best season of his career during the 2020-21 season, averaging a career-high 23.1 points and 4.7 assists per game. He is a legitimate three-level scorer, making 39.2 percent of his 3-point attempts with an elite pull-up and mid-range game.
He would help keep Washington competitive and could even improve his stats as the go-to guy offensively. Joining him on the way to D.C. are two intriguing young players to add to the core they already have in Anfernee Simons and Nassir Little.

Simons is a dynamic scoring guard that still needs reps in developing his playmaking game. Washington could better provide him a better chance of realizing that. Little has played in only 96 games his first two seasons. Washington has a crowded frontcourt, but it is never a bad thing adding more options, especially ones as young and filled with potential as Little.
The two unprotected first-round draft picks are good value as well. Washington could add more cheap, young talent to the roster and have the ammo to move around the board. They could also package those selections with some of their young assets to land an established star that may come available as well.

While people would be disappointed to see Beal go, this would be a solid package that gives Washington the best of both worlds; the chance to remain competitive now and options to have a bright future as well.
