Sam Presti has done a marvelous job of assembling draft picks for years to come, and the Thunder are building something special, which is why they should have a high amount of interest in a guy like Jaden McDaniels if he becomes available.

While the Thunder does have Darius Bazley and Aleksej Pokusevski at the forward positions, Oklahoma City has no players unavailable other than Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, which is why they could be open to dealing. 

Not only could they move players like Bazley and Pokusevski if the Timberwolves wanted them, but they could also offer up a young defensive-minded player like Luguentz Dort, who Minnesota would definitely be interested in adding on the wing given the strides they have made to better themselves on defense. 

Minnesota could also use another guard, which is why someone like Theo Maledon could be on their radar in a potential trade. He was drafted in the first round by the Thunder last season, but with them just drafting Tre Mann and Josh Giddey, they may be open to moving Maledon in a deal for McDaniels.

Many unknowns are surrounding the Thunder right now, but we do know that this season is not going to be a year they look to win much.

Gaining more lottery picks in next year’s draft and adding the best of the best in terms of young talents is their main goal, which is why the Oklahoma City Thunder could be willing to go after Jaden McDaniels at the cost of one of their other young players and a draft pick.
