1. Charlotte Hornets

The Charlotte Hornets did an excellent job of continuing to upgrade their roster this offseason. The center spot was their biggest need, and they attacked it from multiple avenues.

During the 2021 NBA Draft, the team traded a future first-round pick to the New York Knicks in exchange for the No. 19 overall selection and draft rights to Kai Jones. Later on in the draft, they completed a trade with the Detroit Pistons, swapping second-round picks and landing Mason Plumlee in the process.

Plumlee looks like he will be the Charlotte Hornets’ starting center right now and is a major upgrade on what they received from Cody Zeller and Bismack Biyombo last season. But he is the only established big man on the roster.

For a Charlotte Hornets team looking to make a playoff push, they could use another veteran in the frontcourt. Marc Gasol would provide productive minutes at the five-spot with his two-way play, giving the team a different look on the court instead of Plumlee.

Given the vast experience he has, Gasol would be an excellent mentor and veteran leader for this young team. He would do wonders for players such as Jones, P.J. Washington, and Vernon Carey Jr., who are still learning the ropes in the NBA.
