Why Los Angeles Lakers Should Target Josh Jackson
The Los Angeles Lakers have loaded up their roster with veterans heading into the 2021-22 season. Many people have pointed out that the age of their team could be a detriment, so in this scenario, they get much younger with the acquisition of Josh Jackson.
Jackson is only 24-years old and would become the third-youngest player on the team. Only Talen Horton-Tucker, who turned 21 this year, and Malik Monk, born six days earlier, are younger.
The tumultuous beginning that Jackson’s career got off to could help get put back on track by the veterans he would be surrounded with on the Lakers.
Monk and Kendrick Nunn both noted the chance to learn from veterans about how to truly become an NBA player was a big part of them signing with the team.

Jackson would also provide the Lakers with the kind of wing player they are looking for. He has not yet shown any consistency with his 3-point shot, but the potential is to be a lockdown defender. His athleticism combined with a 6’10” wingspan gives him the ability to defend three or four positions on the court.
Being on a veteran-laden team would be good for Jackson and could bring out some of the immense potential. He can already provide a positive impact defensively, so if the Lakers can get him to figure things out on offense, they would have a good player on their hands.

Given his youth, the Los Angeles Lakers could also keep him around beyond this season as the team could use a few young players to possibly become a piece of their foundation for life after LeBron James.
