Why Boston Celtics Should Monitor Trade For Kyle Anderson
The Boston Celtics need to continue rounding out their roster, and Kyle Anderson would be the perfect target. The Memphis Grizzlies’ combo forward could fill numerous holes on the team’s roster and fit the outlook financially.
Anderson is in the final year of his contract, playing on a $9.9 million expiring deal. From a salary cap perspective, that is perfect, as it will help the Celtics clear some money off their books for the 2022 offseason when players such as Bradley Beal and Zach LaVine could become available as free agents.
Having as much cap space available is something Brad Stevens is looking to attain. On the court for this season, Anderson would also prove to be a helpful player.
Standing 6’9”, Anderson is extremely versatile. He can slide right into the starting power forward spot, giving Ime Udoka many possibilities with his lineup construction. A lineup of Marcus Smart, Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum, Anderson, and Robert Williams III would give Boston many two-way potential.

Anderson’s presence would make things a lot easier for the Celtics’ All-Star duo. Defensively, he can match up with the opposing team’s best forward if need be.
Offensively, he is a good playmaker, taking some pressure off of them to create all of the offense. Anderson also made major strides as a shooter last season, knocking down 36 percent of his attempts and having more makes, 94, than the first six years of his career, with 82 combined.
