Charlotte Hornets Receive: C/F Al Horford

Boston Celtics Receive: C Mason Plumlee, F Kelly Oubre Jr., and Filler

The Boston Celtics have been very busy this summer making deals. Brad Stevens has been active in his first offseason leading the front office, and he could make another trade here with the Charlotte Hornets.

The Celtics brought Al Horford back this summer in a trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder. That was a salary dump of Kemba Walker, who was eventually bought out by the Thunder and signed with the New York Knicks.

Horford is on the move once again, heading to the Charlotte Hornets in this hypothetical deal. In exchange for him, the Hornets are sending out two offseason acquisitions in Mason Plumlee and Kelly Oubre Jr.

This is the second time Plumlee will have been traded, as the Hornets acquired him from the Detroit Pistons on draft night, along with JT Thor. Charlotte sent Balsa Koprivica to the Pistons, and he has since signed a deal overseas.

Oubre is also included in this deal, but more money would have to go back to Boston to make this deal work. This trade also has recently signed and traded restrictions that will expire on October 5th and November 5th.

How does this trade impact both teams? Let’s take an in-depth look, starting with the Hornets.
