Does this trade make sense for Philadelphia 76ers?

Moving Ben Simmons in a trade before training camp definitely seems like the best move for the Philadelphia 76ers to make, but at the same time, they need to be careful of what kind of trade they get themselves into. They should not want to move Ben Simmons for the sake of trading him away, especially since he is a 3x All-Star and All-NBA/All-Defensive performer.

Sure, he had his struggles in the postseason, but if you ranked all the players in the NBA, Simmons is still one of the Top-30 players in the league, and two seasons ago, he was an All-NBA player, making him one of the Top-15 players.

The 76ers need to make sure they are getting a top-tier player in return for him, which is why this trade with Minnesota makes little sense for the Sixers. D’Angelo Russell, Malik Beasley, and Jaden McDaniels are good value in a trade package, but does this deal really make the 76ers a bigger championship threat than they already are?

The answer is simply no. It does not, which is why they should want no part of a trade with only Minnesota. This is not implying that they should not look to deal Ben Simmons to the Minnesota Timberwolves.

If the T-Wolves can get a third or fourth team involved that is willing to supply the 76ers with the other All-Star talent they need/want, then the 76ers should absolutely move Simmons to the Timberwolves but just a one-on-one trade makes little sense.

At some point in the next two months, it seems likely that Ben Simmons will be on the move. It is just a matter of who and for what in return, especially since the Philadelphia 76ers have had such a high asking price for the All-Star big man.
