Does this trade make sense for Atlanta Hawks?

The Atlanta Hawks are included in this deal kind of as a side trade, but Cam Reddish is definitely a key asset involved in this deal. There were rumors around the draft that Reddish was available and the Hawks were looking to trade him to gain another first-round pick, but nothing ever developed in terms of actual trade talks.

The former 10th overall pick in 2019 is definitely a valuable commodity for teams around the league and he could definitely be another offensive threat for the Sixers to add to their roster. Atlanta may not want to give him up necessarily, but if they are getting Tyrese Maxey, they would definitely be intrigued with this trade.

Adding another backcourt talent was a goal of the Atlanta Hawks this offseason and while they brought back Lou Williams and added Delon Wright in a trade with the Kings, Maxey could represent the future for them next to Trae Young.

Last year’s first-round pick of the Sixers has a lot of potential to be a solid scoring/slashing threat on offense and he put some of that potential on display in Summer League this year.

Maxey only played in two Summer League games for the Philadelphia 76ers because very quickly, they realized he did not belong out there on the court with players looking to earn a roster spot or contract. Tyrese Maxey averaged 26.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 2.0 steals, and shot 50% from the floor in Las Vegas, making him one of the breakout performers of this summer.

Moving Reddish for Maxey still keeps the Hawks’ young core alive and they are not worsening themselves offensively by making this trade, which is why this is a deal they could show interest in being involved in.

Moving a wing for a backcourt player may not seem logical, but Atlanta does have De’Andre Hunter and Kevin Huerter, hence why they made Reddish available earlier in the offseason.

This trade with the Philadelphia 76ers, Atlanta Hawks, and Cleveland Cavaliers really is not as crazy as it may first appear to be, which is why this is definitely an intriguing scenario for all teams to highly consider in regards to a potential Ben Simmons trade.
