Does this trade make sense for the Golden State Warriors?
If they are willing to give up Andrew Wiggins, James Wiseman, and Jonathan Kuminga for Brandon Ingram, then the Golden State Warriors should definitely just consider trading these three guys for Ben Simmons instead.
On Tuesday afternoon, Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reported that Simmons wants to be traded from the Sixers and is not planning to report to training camp at the end of September.
Golden State has been one of the teams rumored to be interested in Ben Simmons for quite a while now, so why not go and add him instead of Brandon Ingram with the same trade package?
The Warriors’ offer for Simmons is probably the best the Sixers would wind up getting, which is why they would have a strong chance of acquiring him in said trade. Given how great he is defensively and his potential to grow on both ends of the court still, adding Simmons could instantly make the Warriors the best team in the Western Conference.

Who knows if Golden State will pursue the 76ers’ 7-footer, but in terms of going after Brandon Ingram, this really may not be the best thing for them to do. Ingram is a talented player on the wing, but the assets they would have to give up could be crippling to the Warriors’ future.
Jaxson Hayes is another young talent for them to add, but he currently has his own off-the-court issues he is dealing with and comes with some baggage as well.
Entering the 2021-22 season, the Warriors are a contending team and they should have that mentality. When Klay Thompson returns, this is going to be a top-tier team in the NBA, which is why they should not be looking to change things up right now.

If the Warriors are not where they want to be by midseason, then they can possibly look to add another high-level talent, but trading for another All-Star would result in them giving up too many future assets.
Plus, the Golden State Warriors already have an insanely high tax bill, so bringing in another $30M per year type of player on a long-term deal really does not make much sense for this organization. While this trade would help Golden State on paper in terms of being a real contender, it is not really a logistical trade for them.
