Would this trade make sense for the New Orleans Pelicans?
Jonas Valanciunas was part of the sign-and-trade deal that sent Devonte’ Graham to the New Orleans Pelicans. He was one of the additions in New Orleans in hopes of building around Zion Williamson.
Unlike Graham, Valanciunas might not be a long-term piece with the Pelicans. He has plenty of value and could get a productive player on the perimeter. New Orleans moved Steven Adams after just one season and while Valanciunas has a different skill-set, will he be kept around for long?
Harris has turned into one of the best shooters in the league. He was underwhelming during the postseason and the Nets could look to move him for a big man.
The fit with New Orleans is better because of his ability to shoot the ball. This is something that the Pelicans could use right away. Harris on the perimeter would give Williamson and Brandon Ingram an option to kick the ball out to on the perimeter.
Games can be won and lost with the three ball and the Pelicans need some more production from out there. The front office clearly has a plan with how to build around Williamson and this could be another step.

It is unknown if Valanciunas is actually a trade piece or if the team will hang onto him. If they move him, there is plenty of value and that means they could get some assets to help immediately.
