Would this trade make sense for the Los Angeles Lakers?
The Los Angeles Lakers been aggressive over the past couple years in hopes of building the next great dynasty. That has continued this offseason with the acquisition of Russell Westbrook. Now, Los Angeles could be looking in other directions to be told the roster for the upcoming season.
There might not be any blockbuster deals on the horizon for the Lakers but they can still make some smart financial moves. This includes sending Marc Gasol away in a trade to clear another roster spot.
Gasol signed a minimum deal last offseason with the Lakers and has just one year left. His role was displaced after Andre Drummond received a buyout from the Cleveland Cavaliers and opted to sign with the Lakers. While Drummond may be gone, Dwight Howard is back.
There might not be room much room for Gasol in the Lakers’ rotation. Especially when considering the plan is to have Anthony Davis spend more time at the center position. Los Angeles could be better suited opening up a roster spot to sign a player who can play more than just the five.
