Why Golden State Warriors Do This Trade
The Golden State Warriors came into the offseason looking to crack their championship window open even longer. Adding to their aging core of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green was their goal, and they were unable to do that yet this offseason. This trade would accomplish that feat.
Jerami Grant is the centerpiece of this deal. He showed in his first season with the Pistons that he can be the focal point of an offense, scoring a career-high 22.3 points per game. His efficiency dropped a bit, but with an improved supporting cast, he should be able to prop those numbers back up.
Saddiq Bey and Isaiah Stewart are excellent pickups as well. They were both selected in the first round of the 2020 NBA Draft, but have already shown they can contribute right away.
Bey is a budding two-way player that knocked down 38 percent of his 3-point attempts and has the size and athleticism to defend multiple positions.

Stewart may not have the upside of someone like James Wiseman, but he can contribute right off the bat. His energy would fit in perfectly whether it is as the starting center or off the bench. He is a tenacious rebounder, a good shot blocker and has the potential of developing a 3-point shot with some more work.
The Warriors don’t lose anything much when it comes to youth in this deal, but get three players better equipped to help them win now.
