Chicago Bulls possibly explore trade opportunities for Coby White near NBA trade deadline

Originally drafted 7th overall in 2019, Coby White has been getting better and better as a facilitator and scorer for the Chicago Bulls, averaging 15.1 points, 4.8 assists and shooting 35.9% from three-point range next season, but the Bulls are going to be without his services to begin the season.

White underwent successful surgery on his left shoulder on June 10 to repair the labrum and his timeline for recovery is 4 months on the front-end and 6months on the back-end.

Assuming we just go with the “average” and say White will be back on the court in 5 months from the time of surgery, this puts the young combo-guard at mid-November as a possible date to return to action, pretty much a month after the season begins.

Who knows, Coby White may not be back until closer to December, or maybe earlier, but in the end, he will not be ready to play on Opening Night for the Bulls. With them signing Lonzo Ball and Alex Caruso in the offseason, as well as drafting Ayo Dosunmu with the 38th pick in the draft, Chicago now has a lot of guards in their backcourt so could they look to trade Coby White?

His contract is very favorable since he is still on his rookie deal and he is only owed about $13.2M over the next two seasons, a contract plenty of teams would be willing to invest in if he becomes available in trade talks.

With a lot of potential to continue growing as an all-around playmaker and facilitator, as well as a scorer, Coby White is definitely a guard who could draw a lot of interest if the Bulls looked to trade him at the NBA trade deadline.

They may very well take calls on him throughout the season, but Chicago has made their intentions with White clear and they are very high on the potential he has next to Zach LaVine, so they may not trade him right away unless they get a “mind-blowing” deal for him.
