Why Charlotte Hornets Are Best Landing Spot

The Charlotte Hornets are on the cusp of making some noise in the Eastern Conference. They have a face of the franchise in point guard LaMelo Ball and they should be building the roster up around him.

Michael Jordan should be hungry to get this team back in the playoffs and acquiring a player of Karl-Anthony Towns’ caliber would help them do that.

Charlotte would have an excellent foundation moving forward with Ball and Towns as the featured stars on the roster. The young players and draft capital would be a steep price, but it would be a worthwhile gamble for the Hornets.

With Gordon Hayward, Miles Bridges and P.J. Washington heading to Minnesota, Kelly Oubre Jr. could slide right into one of the starting forward spots. Kai Jones, whom Charlotte acquired on a draft-day trade, could be the future at power forward as well, softening the blow of losing Washington.

Veterans Ish Smith and Mason Plumlee would anchor the second unit alongside first round pick James Bouknight, who can help offset the offense lost coming off the bench. Jarrett Culver would also factor into the wing minutes, coming along with Towns.

Having Towns join Ball would make the Hornets an attractive landing spot for prospective free agents as well. A starting lineup that has Ball, Terry Rozier, Oubre and Towns is the makings of a very competitive team in the Eastern Conference.
