The Minnesota Timberwolves are heading into the first full NBA season with Chris Finch as head coach. He took over for Ryan Saunders, who was fired after starting the season 7-24. Finch went 16-25, but the team did start to show some promise down the stretch of the season.

They finished the season on a 7-5 stretch, the best stretch that they had during the season. They will be looking to ride that momentum into the season, as they need to begin turning things around.

The Timberwolves have made the playoffs only once, following the 2017-18 season, in the last 17 years. But, the organization is hopeful they have a core that can change that soon.

Anthony Edwards was selected with the No. 1 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, giving the Timberwolves a building block on the wing. The team has Karl-Anthony Towns at the center spot and D’Angelo Russell in the backcourt, with Jalen McDaniels, Josh Okogie, Jaylen Nowell, Naz Reid, Malik Beasley and Jarrett Culver providing some intriguing talent throughout the roster as well.

This offseason, there have been some whispers about whether or not the team could move Town. The 2020-21 season was an extremely difficult one for him, as he lost his mother and multiple family members to COVID-19.

While things sound like Towns is comfortable in Minnesota, the organization could ultimately decide that they are better off compiling assets and reshaping the roster around Edwards and Russell in the backcourt.

If the Timberwolves do decide to move on from Towns, the Charlotte Hornets would present an excellent landing spot for him. Here is what a deal could look like between the two teams.
