Would this trade make sense for the Charlotte Hornets?
Even with Devonte’ Graham now a member of the New Orleans Pelicans, the Charlotte Hornets still have plenty of room to make a move in the backcourt. Terry Rozier signed a long-term contract extension but is he truly a long-term answer for the team? If not, capitalizing on his trade value makes a lot of sense.
Hyland is the intriguing player in this return. He was unable to showcase himself during the NCAA Tournament with VCU being eliminated due to issues with COVID-19. He was on display during the combine and became a first-round pick.
Hyland would give the Hornets a second first-round guard from this draft to go with Ball. He is one that can score from anywhere on the floor and can light it up from deep. This is a chance for the Hornets to take advantage of Rozier’s value and use their leverage against a team looking for a guard.
LaMelo Ball hit the ground running after being selected No. 2 overall in the 2020 NBA Draft. The team has since made some intriguing additions in the draft and the team’s long-term future is bright — perhaps more important to prioritize.
