Monta Ellis

The last time we saw Monta Ellis in the NBA was during the 2016-17 season with the Indiana Pacers. Ellis played in 74 games, starting 33, averaging 8.5 points, 3.2 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 1.1 steals in 27 minutes per game.

Monta Ellis walked away from the game after that season, as his stint with the Pacers didn’t go too well. His struggles with mental health at the time were beginning to wear on him physically. Choosing to focus on that at the time, Ellis says that he has cleared up the off-court issues and is ready to get back on the court.

Monta Ellis is a fan favorite of the Golden State Warriors, but they will not be having a reunion with him. Now 35-years old and four years removed from the NBA, Ellis may find it difficult to land even a camp invite with a team.

But, it only takes one team to show interest for the 40th overall pick in the 2005 NBA Draft to get that shot that he is looking for. His willingness to compete for a spot on a roster is also a good look for him in getting a look.

Contenders may not line up for him, but teams looking to create some headlines and may have use for a scorer off the bench could show some interest. A team such as the Charlotte Hornets or New Orleans Pelicans could give him the workout he is seeking to showcase that he still has got it.
