New Orleans Pelicans Receive: Buddy Hield
Sacramento Kings Receive: Josh Hart (sign-and-trade), Tomas Satoransky, 2022 Second-Round Pick (via CLE), 2022 Second-Round Pick (via UTA)

The New Orleans Pelicans have been very active on the trade market this offseason and they continue doing so with this deal. They land sharpshooting Buddy Hield in this deal, upgrading their 3-point shooting.

The package to do so is relatively cheap as well. The Sacramento Kings do not have much leverage when it comes to dealing Hield, as he has not lived up to the four-year, $94 million deal he signed. They have also been shopping him for a while.

Josh Hart is the centerpiece of the trade, agreeing to a contract with the Kings to facilitate this deal. The market around Hart has been quiet, but there was a report that the Pelicans and Kings tried to include a Hart sign-and-trade in the trade with the Memphis Grizzlies. That didn’t come to fruition, but the two sides could start up talks again.

Tomas Satoransky is used to help match salary, as his contract became fully guaranteed earlier in the offseason. The second-round picks are a nice sweetener for Sacramento, who are trading away the best player in the deal.

Those picks can be used to add more young talent to a team sort of rebuilding their roster or to help facilitate future deals.
