Does this trade make sense for the Portland Trail Blazers?

This would be an absolute home-run of an NBA trade scenario from the perspective of the Portland Trail Blazers. Managing to add a player of Pascal Siakam’s caliber without having to give up CJ McCollum could form an intriguing trio with Damian Lillard atop the hierarchy.

The intent of this move would be to make a big enough splash that sends a message to Lillard that the front office is changing up what he is accustomed to seeing.

Lillard made a comment when confronted about the trade rumors expressing the sentiment that he would like to stay in Portland but the team also has to get the job done in the roster building department.

Bringing in an interior presence and versatile defender like Pascal Siakam to serve as a screener and play out of handoffs would be an intriguing way for the Trail Blazers to maximize what they have on the perimeter with Lillard, McCollum, and Norman Powell.

There is a lot of talent on the perimeter in Portland but a balance with a player like Siakam could prove to be quite helpful, especially with a team like the Los Angeles Lakers being such a prominent threat in the Western Conference with Anthony Davis.
