Does this trade make sense for the Indiana Pacers?

When looking at the Indiana Pacers, they are no strangers to big moves when necessary. It began with Victor Oladipo at the beginning of the season and continued when they acquired Caris LeVert in part of the four-team NBA blockbuster trade that sent James Harden to the Brooklyn Nets.

There have been plenty of other NBA trade rumors but they could decide to get another big name rather than sending one away. McCollum is the perimeter piece that could help solidify the Pacers’ lineup.

With Malcolm Brogdon at point guard and Caris LeVert in the mix, Indiana is set up well but McCollum would bring that to a new level. Brogdon has limitations to his game as a shot creator and could be expendable to focus on adding more wing depth if needed. That’s not required though considering new head coach Rick Carlisle is a fan of using three-guard lineups.

The clear value from McCollum is that he’s a legitimate scoring threat at all three levels. McCollum clearly has experience playing with other stars and is a player that knows how to play his role. This would be a big improvement for the Pacers in the most-important area. Today’s NBA is run by the guard play and the Pacers would be in a good position with a trade such as this one.

Indiana has a chance to make some more noise this offseason in hopes of getting back into contention in the Eastern Conference. If McCollum is available, he is the type of player that could help right away.
