New Orleans Pelicans
I’m still scratching my head on why the New Orleans Pelicans would do what they did to begin NBA free agency. Not only did they let Lonzo Ball walk for a relatively cheap price, but they would replace him with Devonte’ Graham by trading a first-round pick to the Charlotte Hornets.
Graham does bring outside scoring to the Pelicans, but it’s hard to find point guards like Ball that is still rapidly growing on the offensive end while being a daunting defender.
To make up for their mistakes thus far, the Pelicans would be a nice fit for Malcolm Brogdon. Graham isn’t much of a playmaker, so adding Brogdon would give them someone that can help create for guys like Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson.
Also, Brogdon could help fill the void that is left behind by Ball’s departure on the defensive end of the court.

With David Griffin needing to convince Ingram and Williamson that the organization is moving in the right direction, trading for Brogdon could buy him more time as they address their need at the point guard position.
