4. Kristaps Porzingis

The Dallas Mavericks didn’t make a selection in the 2021 NBA Draft, as they chose to not trade into the foray to make a selection. That may have been a financial move, as the Mavericks will assuredly be active during free agency.

Dallas has to start building this roster up around superstar guard, Luka Doncic. The Kristaps Porzingis trade has backfired on them, as he has been unable to consistently perform as Doncic’s sidekick. His performance in the playoffs may have been the last straw for Dallas.

There isn’t much interest in Porzingis right now is reportedly minimal, that could change depending on how free agency goes for teams. If a team’s Plan A doesn’t come to fruition, they could pivot to a Plan B that includes acquiring the high-prized Latvian.

Porzingis can still be a difference-maker for a team, it just doesn’t look like it will be for Dallas. He is reportedly unhappy with his role on the team, feeling that he is more of an afterthought than 1B to Doncic’s 1A.

That won’t help the Mavericks win games or get any closer to contending for championships. They will keep trying to move on from him this offseason to retool the roster around Doncic before their salary cap flexibility is gone.
