Brooklyn Nets Grade: C+

The Brooklyn Nets get a grade of C+ because of how this deal looks now. It is a grade that would increase should it be part of a bigger deal.

As things currently stand, the Nets depleted their already shaking depth even more. Even if they didn’t plan on extending Landry Shamet in the future, he was a good rotation player and a key part of their backcourt rotation. With so many players hitting free agency this summer, Jevon Carter is currently the team’s backup point guard.

Carter brings some hard-nosed defense to Brooklyn, something the team lacked at times during the season. He is a capable shooter as well, knocking down 38.1 percent of his 3-point attempts.

The interesting part of this deal for the Nets is that they acquired another first-round pick. They entered the night with the No. 27, 44, 49 and 59 and now have No. 29 with them. That gives them more ammunition to move up for a prospect they are targeting or to move an undesirable contract.

They could attach one of the picks to DeAndre Jordan to move his contract off their books. There are also some rumors that the Nets could jump in on the proposed Washington Wizards and Los Angeles Lakers deal once free agency begins.

If the Nets can turn this into two rotation players in Kyle Kuzma and Montrezl Harrell, it would be a great deal for them.
