Does this trade make sense for the Charlotte Hornets?
The Charlotte Hornets were able to get a bit of a taste of the postseason this year. They qualified for the play-in tournament but were quickly eliminated in the first game. Now, it is the goal of the front office to put a team on the floor that could get to series’ play next season.
The road seems simple for a team like Charlotte in a weak Eastern Conference. They have strong guard play, even if Rozier is sent away, and are weak in the frontcourt. Cody Zeller is entering NBA free agency and the team will not be bringing him back.
Charlotte was aggressive in their pursuit of an impact performer down low a year ago and it will be the same this season. The Hornets could look to draft a big man but if they want to take a step forward in the postseason, it would be wise to look at a proven commodity.
Myles Turner would be the perfect fit because of his toughness and leadership ability. Charlotte needs a big man that can hang down low with the likes of Joel Embiid and Giannis Antetokounmpo. Turner is a defensive minded big and that would go a long way in the Eastern Conference.

There is just on way around it, the Hornets are not going to receive enough improvement defensively until they add a rim protector that can raise the floor of the group as a whole. There are few that can do precisely that at the level of Myles Turner.
