Both the Oklahoma City Thunder and Houston Rockets are rebuilding, but one championship contending team that could actually have interest in Cam Reddish is the Los Angeles Lakers. Outside of LeBron James and Anthony Davis, the Lakers are thin on overall talent and are going to be looking for ways to add players that can help them win now.

Guys like Kyle Lowry, DeMar DeRozan and potentially Russell Westbrook are on their radar this offseason as targets in free agency and via trades, but they are a team that is thin on cap space as it is. Only 7 players are under contract for next season, including Montrezl Harrell who has a player option he has yet to make a decision on, yet the Lakers are already close to $10M over the salary cap.

The Hawks already have the No. 20 pick in this year’s draft as mentioned earlier, which is why they could be highly interested in adding the Lakers’ No. 22 pick. They could end up with two of the better players in the 20+ range of this year’s draft class, which is why Atlanta could look to trade Cam Reddish to the Lakers if they are interested.

Seeing as they would entertain the idea of moving down a few spots and potentially gaining a second-round pick, the Lakers may have to find a third team to get involved in this deal so they can maintain their first-round status in this year’s draft since the Hawks pick before them.

Sources have told NBA Analysis Network that the Nuggets (26), Suns (29) and Jazz (30) are all interested in trading out of their current spots, making them possible targets in this trade scenario for the Lakers if they were to move out of the No. 22 pick in this year’s draft and still wanted to add a later first-round pick.

The Lakers do not have many young talents on their roster and with both Talen Horton-Tucker’s and Kyle Kuzma’s futures in Los Angeles being up-in-the-air at this point, it could be smart for the Lakers to bring in Cam Reddish. He has proven to be able to score on the perimeter and on the drive, which is why adding him to a LeBron James-led offense makes complete sense.
