Does this trade make sense for the Orlando Magic?
As long as they are not giving up draft picks, pretty much any trade makes sense for the Magic right now. They are in a position right now where as long as the Magic are getting draft picks or young talents in return, they are open for business in trade talks!
Talen Horton-Tucker is definitely a young talent that could be of value to the Magic and with them having not only Wendell Carter Jr. in their frontcourt, but Jonathan Isaac returning from injury, they may not really have a need for Mo Bamba anymore. It is surprising that Bamba never saw his role increase in Orlando, but he can definitely make an impact somewhere else.
There is always a need for big guys with a 7’10” wingspan and given that Bamba can actually shoot from the perimeter, he will be able to make a name for himself somewhere in this league. Unfortunately, it seems like his time in Orlando is coming to an end, but his journey in the league may be just beginning.
Back to Horton-Tucker, he is a guy that could definitely be of value to the Magic because of the fact that he can do a little bit of everything. We have not seen THT play a big role during the regular season for the Lakers, but during the preseason ahead of the 2020-21 season, he was arguably their best player on the court.

At just 20-years-old, Talen Horton-Tucker has a ton of room to grow as a player and could easily become a focal point and building block in Orlando. With them rebuilding, bringing in young talents with upside is all they care about right now, which is why this trade definitely makes sense for the Orlando Magic.
