Los Angeles Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers could be in the market for a point guard this offseason. If they can land one that not only helps the team in the immediate future, but gives them a building block long-term, even better. Dejounte Murray would accomplish both.

There have been plenty of mock trades between the Lakers and Spurs this offseason centered around Kyle Kuzma. Derrick White and DeMar DeRozan have both been mentioned as possible trade targets, but Murray should also be in their sights.

Murray would be a good secondary playmaker that could take his skills to the next level learning from LeBron James. He is also an incredible rebounder for a point guard, something the Lakers were middle of the road with during the 2020-21 season, finishing 17th in the league.

Los Angeles would be banking on his 3-point shooting becoming more consistent with less attention being given to him by opposing defenses. Murray has two seasons shooting 36.9 percent or better but two shooting 31.7 percent or worse.

Defensively, Murray would fit right in with the Lakers. They already had the No. 1 defensive rating in the NBA during the 2020-21 season and Murray would help cement their spot at the top of those ratings.
