Does this trade make sense for the Golden State Warriors?
Upon the hopeful return of Klay Thompson, the Warriors are going to have a much better time shooting the ball next season. But what if Golden State could add another player that can knock down threes at an impressive rate?
If the Warriors were to add Lillard, some would say that he wouldn’t fit due to him playing the same position as Stephen Curry. While Golden State’s defense would take a massive hit, pairing Lillard and Curry in the back court would be something you’d only see in NBA 2K, which is why a trade for Lillard is highly improbable. Nevertheless, it’s fun to think about.
Besides Damian Lillard and Stephen Curry, the Warriors could move Klay Thompson to small forward, have Green at power forward, and someone like Kevon Looney at the center spot.
Or when they go with a small-ball lineup, Green would be playing the five. There would not be a single team in NBA history that would have better shooting than the Warriors if they were to acquire Lillard.

Moving Wiggins, Wiseman, and a few first-round picks wouldn’t mean much in the grand scheme of things if Golden State is pushing for a title. Even though there are reasons to be skeptical of how the Warriors would make it work, fans in the Bay Area would definitely welcome the idea of getting Lillard.
