Philadelphia 76ers Receive: G Buddy Hield, F Marvin Bagley III, SAC 2021 1st Round Pick (Pick #9), SAC 2023 1st Round Pick (Unprotected)

Given his lackluster performances in the playoffs this year, the Philadelphia 76ers are open to listening to trade offers for Ben Simmons this offseason, but they are wanting to get assets in return that can aid them in their championship efforts now.

Sacramento does not have too much to offer, but they do have Buddy Hield, Harrison Barnes and Marvin Bagley III as possible trade assets they could send to Philadelphia in exchange for Simmons. In this proposal, they would be sending Hield and Bagley, along with their 9th pick in the draft this year and an unprotected 2023 1st Round Pick to the 76ers in exchange for Ben Simmons.

Buddy Hield is a guy that has been a part of numerous NBA trade rumors through the years, but he has been a really reliable producer on the offensive-end of the floor over the last few seasons. Since coming to Sacramento during the 2016-17 season, Hield has averaged 17.3 points, 4.5 rebounds and has shot 40.9% from three-point range on the wing.

Being in the league for five seasons now, Buddy Hield is an experienced enough player that he knows what it takes to win, even though winning has been hard to come by in Sacramento, and he is more than capable of being a great complimentary shooter next to Seth Curry in Philadelphia. Having two 40% or better three-point shooters could be lethal for the Sixers, which is why Hield could be of interest to them.

Marvin Bagley III is another intriguing name to keep an eye on in trade talks this offseason and pertaining to this proposal for Ben Simmons, he is a frontcourt talent that could play off Joel Embiid quite nicely. Injuries have limited Bagley’s effectiveness early on in his career, but he is still a big low-post threat who can score in the paint and create second-chance opportunities for his team.

Having a frontcourt duo of Bagley and Embiid and moving Tobias Harris back to the wing could be highly beneficial for the 76ers and give them more length, something they were lacking against the Hawks in the Eastern Conference Semifinals. Atlanta attacked Philly on the interior on both ends of the court and the Sixers really did not have any production on the interior outside of Joel Embiid, which is why adding Marvin Bagley III could make sense for them.

While they have made their intentions of getting an All-Star-caliber player in return clear, the Philadelphia 76ers may not be able to get the kind of value they want for Ben Simmons seeing as he has really struggled on offense. Many teams view Simmons as a “project” rather than an immediate asset right now, which is why many teams in the league will not want to pay Philadelphia’s price for their young All-Star.

Ben Simmons is a young talent with a lot of potential to grow into one of the better two-way players in the league, but his inconsistencies on the offensive-end of the floor have been well documented and are definitely causes for concern about his future. Trading him could give the Philadelphia 76ers exactly what they need to contend for a championship next season, but does this trade with the Sacramento Kings make sense?
