New York Knicks Receive: G Kemba Walker, MIN 2021 2nd Round Pick (Pick #36)
Oklahoma City Thunder Receive: C Mitchell Robinson, F Kevin Knox, NYK 2021 1st Round Pick (Pick #19)
After trading away both Al Horford and Moses Brown, the Thunder have no true centers on their roster and the only frontcourt players they have under contract for next season are Isaiah Roby and Darius Bazley. Adding a big man will be a priority for OKC this offseason, which is why they could have interest in a guy like Mitchell Robinson.
While he only played in 31 games during the 2020-21 season due to numerous injuries that occured one after the other, Robinson led the league in field goal percentage during the 2019-20 season and at 23-years-old, he can be a key contributor for many years to come.
Through his first three years in the league, Mitchell Robinson has averaged 8.4 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.1 blocks and has shot 70.5% from the floor. Standing 7-feet tall, Robinson is the athletic, versatile center that the Thunder should want to add, especially with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander being a more than capable ball-handler and passer in pick-and-roll sets.
Kevin Knox is also another intriguing young player the Thunder would get in this trade with the Knicks. While the start of his career has been very underwhelming and he already seems to have one foot out the door in terms of his NBA future, Oklahoma City really has nothing to lose with acquiring Knox.

He was selected 9th overall in 2018 and at Kentucky, he was a really solid contributor that showed a ton of upside as a possible two-way threat on the wing. While he has not been this kind of player with the Knicks, maybe a new setting and playing with a younger team could be really beneficial for Knox.
As for the New York Knicks, getting Kemba Walker obviously would not be their #1 choice in point guards this offseason, but they need someone who can control the pace of the game and be a key contributor on offense in their backcourt. This exactly fits what kind of player Walker is and he could really thrive paired with Derrick Rose in the Knicks’ backcourt.
There is a lot to like about this trade for both teams, but is this a trade we should truly expect to see this offseason? Let’s take a look at if this trade makes sense for both the New York Knicks and the Oklahoma City Thunder.
