For years, the Orlando Magic have been looking to find a little bit of “magic” themselves in terms of roster construction and playoff success, but none of their wishes have come true. Since the 2011-12 NBA season, Orlando has been to the playoffs just twice, losing in the first-round both of these years.

Now, after trading away Nikola Vucevic, Aaron Gordon and Evan Fourneir at the trade deadline, the Magic face yet another uphill journey and rebuild process, but this time, they actually have a lot of their building blocks in place.

Jonathan Isaac, Markelle Fultz, Chume Okeke, Cole Anthony, Wendell Carter Jr. and Mo Bamba are all younger players that the Magic could look to build for the foreseeable future, but the 2021 NBA Draft will give Orlando even more chance to add onto their young core.

Orlando not only has the 5th overall pick, their own pick, in the 2021 NBA Draft, but they also obtained the rights to Chicago’s 8th overall pick stemming from the Vucevic trade this year. With the potential to add two highly talented players inside the Top-10 of this year’s draft, the rebuild in Orlando may be quicker than first imagined, but could the Magic look to trade both of these picks?

Packaging these two picks together in order to move up and snag the first overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft from Detroit may be highly advantageous to the Magic, even though they do have a lot of backcourt talent already. Drafting Cade Cunningham or Jalen Green could change the Magic forever, which is why them entertaining the idea of trading up is very likely.

Could the Magic look to put together a very enticing trade proposal for the Detroit Pistons in order to acquire the #1 pick in the 2021 NBA Draft? Let’s take a look at what the Magic could possibly offer up to try and persuade Detroit.
