Does this trade make sense for the Dallas Mavericks?
Luka Doncic has quickly turned into one of the best players in the league. As long as he is in the rotation, the Mavericks are going to be a competitive team. With that being said, the front office has grown nervous of his desire to remain with a franchise long-term.
This is where Mark Cuban could look to continue to build around Doncic. That includes adding a point guard like Malcolm Brogdon via trade. He has shown over the years that he is one of the better perimeter defenders in the league and can score at all three levels.
He has shown that he can take over on the offensive end but would not need to with a player like Doncic. This combination would work well because of what they would be able to do on both ends. The Mavericks would be difficult to defend, especially with Porzingis down low if he is healthy.
An underrated benefit of adding Brogdon into the mix is that he’s a reliable free-throw shooter, which helps towards the end of big games. That is an area Doncic struggled with in the playoffs, so having a guard on the floor that can execute in those moments would be helpful.

The Western Conference is only going to improve and the Mavericks have to keep up. This includes improving the most important position on the floor at the top of the offense.
