Golden State Warriors

The Golden State Warriors have an incredible core in place with Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green. This offseason will be an important one for them, as they have some maneuverability to restock the roster around their core for another run at an NBA Championship. That is part of the reason this would be the best landing spot for Kristaps Porzingis.

He would be viewed as a complementary piece to what is already in place in Golden State, not as the franchise savior he was viewed as with the Knicks or co-star he was expected to be in Dallas.

The Warriors would also be able to afford playing Porzingis at power forward, where he would prefer to be. They would be able to hide most of Porzingis’s shortcomings as well by playing him alongside Green, the ultimate swiss army knife when it comes to the defensive side of the ball.

While Golden State would presumably use Porzingis at center in some matchups, they have the luxury of pairing him alongside either Green or James Wiseman as a power forward.

Steve Kerr would have infinite lineup combinations, as he could go smaller with Porzingis at the five spot alongside Green or have a jumbo lineup with Green moving down to small forward with Porzingis paired alongside Wiseman in the Warriors’ frontcourt.

Porzingis would also give the Warriors a foundational piece to build on when Curry, Thompson and Green move on, as he is still only 26-years old in August and has not yet even reached his prime.
