Right now, the Indiana Pacers are also focused on finding ways to improve their roster and depth, which is why the Celtics could potentially get Aaron Holiday cheaper than imagined. The former first-round pick has not been overly impressive in Indiana over the years, which is why the Pacers could be more than willing to trade him.

Through three seasons with the Pacers, Aaron Holiday has averaged 7.7 points, 2.4 assists and has shot 37.2% from three-point range. His role with the Pacers had not gotten any greater and he is nothing more than a bench/reserve guy for them.

While he only has one year remaining on his rookie contract, taking a chance on Aaron Holiday at a low cost could be very beneficial for the Boston Celtics. Marcus Smart and Payton Pritchard are their only two ball-handlers right now and the Celtics need bench guys who can make an impact on offense.

Holiday has shown the ability to shoot from distance and next to guys like Tatum and Brown, his game could expand to where he is more of a catch-and-shoot threat than anything else. As for Indiana, figuring out what to do with their core is their number one priority right now, but adding some extra role players on their bench also needs attention in the offseason.

Both T.J. McConnell and Doug McDermott are free agents this offseason and while it is expected that the Pacers will look to bring both of them back, nothing is guaranteed in this league! Adding Grant Williams and Carsen Edwards gives the Pacers two relatively young players who do have experience and could carve out a role off-the-bench moving forward.

The Pacers also get some value for Holiday now, something that they likely will not get at the trade deadline or later given that hsi role has not changed over the years. This really is not that bad of a trade for both teams, but let’s evaluate if this trade makes sense for both the Celtics and Pacers.
