Milwaukee is strong defensively and they have shown that in the postseason

The Milwaukee Bucks had the league’s highest scoring offense during the regular season, averaging 120.1 points per game, and the talk about them has been their ability to score at all three levels on the court. Perhaps the biggest advantage the Bucks have had over their opponents in the playoffs though is their ability to defend.

They are giving up just 103.5 points per game to their opponents this postseason, which ranks them second behind the Phoenix Suns in the playoffs. Not to mention, the Bucks have also held their opponents (Heat, Nets and Hawks) below 100 points six different times in the playoffs.

Defensively, the Bucks are led by 2019-20 Defensive Player of the Year and 4x All-Defensive performer Giannis Antetokounmpo, but Jrue Holiday, Khris Middleton, Brook Lopez and P.J. Tucker makes up an extremely strong defensive rotation for Milwaukee.

There really are now flaws in this team defensively since all of their starters can defend their position at a high-level, but they can be exposed at times on switches. Atlanta found a lot of success switching Brook Lopez onto Trae Young or Kevin Huerter in high pick-and-roll sets, so the Suns could look to do the same with Chris Paul and Devin Booker in the NBA Finals.

Nonetheless, the Bucks have shown very little flaws in their defensive efforts this postseason, which is the biggest reason why they could actually win the championship this year. Defense wins championships and in a series against another great defensive team in the Suns, whichever team caves on this end of the floor first could very well lose this series.

There could be some high scoring games in this series, as in the two games the Bucks and Suns played during the regular season they combined to average 252 total points per game, but the final few games of this series will be heavily defense-oriented.

Milwaukee has played great defense all year long and with one final test against the Phoenix Suns, they will look to have their defense lead them once again. The Bucks are four wins away from winning a championship and if they can contain the Suns’ offense, then they will be well on their way to winning their second ever championship.
