Giannis Antetokounmpo avoided a major knee injury

In Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals, Giannis Antetokounmpo went up to contest a lob pass thrown to Hawks’ center Clint Capela, but his legs got tangled up with qCapela and got caught underneath him. Giannis fell to the grow clutching at his left knee in pain after it had appeared to bend backwards and hyperextend.

Antetokounmpo immediately left the game and was helped to the locker room by the Bucks’ training staff. He did not return and many feared that Giannis had suffered a significant knee injury that could potentially derail the Bucks hopes of winning a championship.

The following day, Giannis Antetokounmpo’s MRI revealed no structural damage to the ligaments in his left knee and the Bucks have since stuck to their original injury report of Giannis dealing with a hyperextended left knee.

His timetable for return is highly questionable at this point and he could miss the start of the NBA Finals, but Antetokounmpo has already begun his rehab process and has already been doing individual work on the court.

There is a slim chance that he could return in time for Game 1 of the NBA Finals, but whether or not he plays to open the series, he will be back at some point in this series. This is extremely good news for the Bucks and one of the main reasons why they can still win the championship this year.

Giannis is their leader and they need him in order to play their best, which is why avoiding a major knee injury was huge news. Nobody in the league can really guard Giannis Antetokounmpo and if he can be 75%+ healthy for this series against the Suns, the Bucks will have a very good chance at possibly winning this series.
