Luka Doncic is the “now” and “future” of the NBA
At just 22-years-old, Luka Doncic has not only cemented himself as a superstar in the NBA, but he is one of the faces of the entire league. Doncic is the leader of the Dallas Mavericks and with him coming off a season in which he averaged 27.7 points, 8.0 rebounds and 8.6 assists, he is the kind of player that other All-Star talents would love to play with.
At first glance, it does not seem like the Dallas Mavericks could make this acquisition work financially, especially with them about to give Luka Doncic a big-time contract extension, but there are multiple ways the Mavericks could bring Kawhi Leonard to Dallas via a sign-and-trade with the Los Angeles Clippers.
Kristaps Porzingis and even pending free agent Tim Hardaway Jr. are two key assets that could be included in potential trade talks for Leonard this offseason. Regardless of how they would try and bring Leonard to Dallas, Luka Doncic seems to be the driving force on why he would even consider joining them.
Doncic is the type of guy who makes everybody around him better and given how well he has played within his first three years in the league, it is not a matter of if Luka Doncic will win an MVP award, it is a matter of when at this point. Who knows, he could even win the award next season, especially if he had Kawhi Leonard next to him!
The point is that Luka Doncic is only going to continue getting better, which is a scary thought! Kawhi Leonard is his own great talent and is already one of the premier players in the league, but if he truly wants to maximize his chances of winning a title, he will need to pair up with other superstar talents.

He tried to do this with Paul George in Los Angeles, but things just have not seemed to work out between the two. They are both great talents in their own rights, but both Leonard and George have seemed to play better when one of them is out of the game.
Both Luka and Kawhi are ball-dominant players, but this pairing could work out quite well. The Mavericks have always been known to be an organization that emphasizes winning and with a motivated owner like Mark Cuban pulling the strings, they are definitely a team to keep an eye on in talks with Kawhi Leonard.
