The Dallas Mavericks initially brought Kristaps Porzingis to town to pair with Luka Doncic and build a winner. After a short tenure, Porzingis could be on his way out of town and onto his third team. We saw the drama surrounding Porzingis when he was a member of the New York Knicks and, of course, the Knicks were blamed. It turns out that Porzingis might be the issue and has found himself in NBA trade rumors.

The Mavericks were eliminated by the Los Angeles Clippers in the first round for the second straight year in the postseason. This is bound to cause some disgruntled feelings but Porzingis has taken it to another level.

It is featured in NBA rumors that Porzingis does not feel like a co-star next to Doncic and this has caused some unhappiness. If this is true, it would benefit the Mavericks to send him away in a trade while there is still value. There will be plenty of teams interested and Dallas would have a chance to pick the one that is best.

The New Orleans Pelicans could be one of the interested teams. They have built a dynamic duo with Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram but have not put the right players around them just yet. They have not taken that step toward the postseason and that is what the front office should be looking to accomplish.

The addition of Porzingis would help them on the floor right away. If Porzingis does not feel like a star in Dallas, he could be looking for a trade. New Orleans already has two stars and Porzingis would just add to that.

This would be another blockbuster deal involving Porzingis to a Western Conference team. Let’s take a look at what it might take to land him in New Orleans in the offseason.
