CJ McCollum

Hear me out Miami Heat fans, CJ McCollum is a better player than some people want to admit. At the same time, he’s someone that fits exactly what Miami is looking for, which is a guard that can take pressure off of Butler and Adebayo. If the Heat want McCollum, the veteran two-guard could be made available due to the Portland Trail Blazers possibly changing things up this offseason following the firing of Terry Stotts.

McCollum has operated as the second fiddle to Damian Lillard in the past six seasons, and he’s performed well in that role, for the most part. Of course, Lillard would be the choice as the trade target for the Heat rather than CJ McCollum, but it remains to be seen if Lillard is even up for auction this summer.

Therefore, why not just consider my inclusion of McCollum as a way of saying that Miami should be paying close attention to what Portland does in the coming months.

Being able to add a player like McCollum, who can create his own shot and excel off of the ball, would pay dividends for the Heat. We saw in Miami’s series against Milwaukee that it was becoming exhausting for Butler to create for everyone by himself. While CJ McCollum probably wouldn’t be a popular choice among fans, he would be a great addition to the Heat next season.
