Does This Trade Make Sense For The New York Knicks?

This trade makes total sense for the Knicks because of how well Lonzo Ball would fit in their system. Not only does he have that “it” factor to him, being able to “wow” the fans in MSG, but he is actually a really solid point guard.

Many people tend to undervalue Ball because they do not like his dad and they have a certain opinion about his character, but Lonzo is a really soft-spoken guy and just does his job. This year with the Pelicans, Ball was terrific, averaging 14.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, 5.7 assists, and shooting a career-high 37.8% from three-point range.

He can facilitate, he is a terrific defender, and he can finally knock down jump shots from the perimeter, so why would the Knicks not want Ball to be their point guard moving forward? Derrick Rose is just a temporary plan for them and is on the back-end of his career, which is why New York is going to be looking to add a point guard in free agency this year.

Kyle Lowry should obviously be at the top of their list based on pure talent, but with him being on the back-end of his career as well, Ball makes the most sense out of any player available in free agency for the Knicks.

In this deal, they not only get Ball via a sign-and-trade, but the Knicks also get a young, athletic center in Jaxson Hayes, who could create a formidable “one-two punch” with Nerlens Noel at the center position.

The Knicks have been high on Robinson over the years, but he just cannot stay healthy and with other guys stepping up and performing in place of him, they might as well trade him now before he becomes a free agent and they let him go elsewhere.

This trade makes complete sense for the Knicks and whether it is going after him in free agency or via a sign-and-trade, expect the Knicks to be one of a few teams all-in on pursuing Lonzo Ball this offseason.
