Does this trade make sense for the Phoenix Suns?

If Phoenix is looking for ways to bring in more offensive weapons/shooters in the offseason, then going after Davis Bertans definitely makes sense for them. Although they would be absorbing a large contract that would be hard to move on from over the years, Bertans could absolutely contribute in a system where he would be sitting on the perimeter on offense.

The only problem is that Bertans is not a great defender and the Suns really value having guys that can play hard on both ends of the court. Given that they would not really like to be tied down to a guy like Bertans long-term, the Suns may not be too interested in trading for him in the offseason, but getting another sharpshooter could definitely be beneficial for them.

Not only is Davis Bertans’ contract not favorable for the Suns, but getting rid of Jevon Carter may be out of the question for them. He played in 60 games for the Suns this year, only averaging 12.0 minutes per game, but Carter is a guy that Phoenix and head coach Monty Williams are really high on.

They love the energy he can bring to them off-the-bench and given that he came from Bob Huggins system at West Virginia, you know that he is going to give his everything on the defensive-end of the court.

Parting with Dario Saric is something that the Suns could be talked into this offseason, but giving up Jevon Carter and absorbing a large contract in exchange for someone that only makes a difference on offense would not be that great of a move for the Suns. That is why they should stay away from trading for Davis Bertans this offseason.
