Phoenix Suns Receive: F Davis Bertans

Washington Wizards Receive: F/C Dario Saric, G Jevon Carter

After being one of the worst teams in the league at the All-Star break during the regular season, the Washington Wizards were one of the hottest teams in the league during the second-half of the year and they somehow found a way to win their way to the 8-seed in the Eastern Conference.

In the playoffs, they had a tough task of playing the Philadelphia 76ers in the first-round and they gave them a run for their money, but they ultimately lost this series 4-1 and will now be searching for ways on how to improve their roster in the offseason.

They will be getting Thomas Bryant (torn ACL) and Deni Avdija (broken leg) back next year, but with Westbrook and Beal eating up nearly $79M in total salary space combined, the Wizards do not have many options on how they can add a third superstar talent that they so desperately need.

While Davis Bertans has played a huge role for them being a sharpshooter over the years and while they did just give him a massive contract extension, he is a guy that Washington would have to move if they were to add another big name to their roster to pair with their superstar duo in the backcourt.

Making this trade with the Suns frees up some cap space and it also gives them two solid bench guys that Washington could utilize in their rotations next year. Dario Saric had a solid season with Phoenix, averaging 8.7 points, 3.8 rebounds and shooting 34.8% from three-point range and Jevon Carter is a guy that the Suns are really high on.

Carter has not really played a big role with the Suns through his first three years in the league, but they love what he can do defensively, which is why they gave him a three-year contract-extension before this season.

Jevon Carter definitely brings more value to the Wizards than Dario Saric does given his impact in the backcourt off-the-bench, but this is not that bad of a trade for Washington if they are looking to move the guaranteed money to Davis Bertans off of their books. The only question is if this trade truly makes sense for both teams.
