Does this trade make sense for the New Orleans Pelicans?

The New Orleans Pelicans need to show Zion Williamson they are serious about winning before he forces his way out of town. It may be too early for some to think about that possibility, but the rumblings in NBA rumors about his desire to play for the New York Knicks with RJ Barrett should not be ignored.

Zion Williamson needs some help on this team, and the Pelicans haven’t been able to give it to him yet. Adding a big time center in Karl Anthony-Towns would give Zion an immediate veteran to learn from and befriend while the addition of D’Angelo Russell would add a needed pull-up shooter into the mix.

Brandon Ingram is a huge talent in New Orleans, but the priority is to find a stretch-five like Karl-Anthony Towns. Pairing him with Zion Williamson would provide much needed spacing and make it all the more challenging to slow down an already dominant interior scorer.

Moving on from Anthony Davis gave the Pelicans a robust assortment of NBA Draft assets. One of the challenges in building a great team is waiting to find a transcendent player but New Orleans didn’t have to as they immediately landed Zion Williamson. Now, they need to go all-in with him.
