While the NBA is currently in the midst of several highly contested playoff battles, we can start to gage our focus to the latter half of the NBA offseason that could feature some of the biggest offseason trades. Several teams are going to be active this offseason, and the New Orleans Pelicans and Minnesota Timberwolves could partake in their fair share of the festivities.

The New Orleans Pelicans actually have a very talented roster, but for whatever reason their star-studded roster hasn’t translated to wins for them on the court. The Timberwolves are in a very similar situation where the talent is certainly there, but a lack of wins prevented them from making the playoffs this season.

A trade between these two teams could catch a lot of people off guard but it would make a lot of sense for both sides. The Pelicans need to show they doing everything they can to surround Zion Williamson with the necessary pieces to win.

Entering his third season, Zion Williamson needs more dynamic and better fitting firepower around him and Karl-Anthony Towns would be ideal. It would be a bold move that would help the Pelicans to rise up the Western Conference standings. Keep i mind, the expectations were high already entering the 2020-21 NBA season but they underachieved.
