Ja Morant is proving that he is a Top-5 point guard in the NBA
There are not enough words to describe how good Ja Morant has been for the Grizzlies over the last month or so. Ever since he claimed that he is one of the top point guards in this NBA, he has been on a tear and he had one of the best games of his career in Game 2, dropping a career-high 47 points and adding 4 rebounds and 7 assists to his name.
In his second career playoff game ever, he set a new career-high in scoring, set a new Grizzlies’ playoff record for points in a game by a player, he became the 4th youngest player in NBA history to score 40+ points in a playoff game and his 71 points through his first two playoff games are the most since the NBL merged with the BAA before the 1949-50 season to create the NBA.

Morant’s performance in Game 2 was spectacular, but quite honestly, he scored a quiet 47 points, which seems crazy to say! It seemed like the Jazz controlled this game from start to finish, yet every time the Jazz hit a big shot, either Morant or Dillon Brooks came back the other way and delivered a big shot of their own.
The second-year guard took 20 total free throw attempts in the game, making 15 of them and he also shot 2-7 from three-point range, so he is showing a wide array of ways that he is starting to pick apart opposing defenses.
Right now, the Utah Jazz have no answer for Ja Morant and he is going to continue to cause a headache for them because he is playing the best basketball of his career right now. Morant’s ascendance to being one of the top point guards in the game has begun and if he keeps playing like this, he could be hearing “MVP” chants in the near future.
