Does This Trade Make Sense For The Grizzlies?
Absolutely not. Nothing about this trade makes sense for the Memphis Grizzlies and why would they ever consider making this trade? They would downgrade swapping Anderson for Bledsoe and getting Steven Adams for Jonas Valanciunas is a major downgrade in terms of both fit and style of play.
Really, the only value the Grizzlies get from this trade is a lottery pick in this year’s draft from the Pelicans, but this is a young team that is one the verge of being something special in the Western Conference, so why would they shake things up?
Sometimes, time is all a franchise needs and while every team wants to try and win as many games as they can now, the Grizzlies need to be patient with the team that they have. Up and down this roster, they have plenty of talent and have been a reliable team all season long that is only going to get better.
Memphis could definitely be better than they have been, but Jaren Jackson Jr. is just returning to the court. Both he and Ja Morant are the two star players on this team and Jonas Valanciunas, Dillon Brooks, and Kyle Anderson make up a great secondary supporting cast to the two young stars.
The future is bright for the Grizzlies, but if they make this trade, their future becomes very dark and they would be taking a major step back in terms of overall production and the chance to be a consistent playoff team in a tough conference.
