Harrison Barnes – Sacramento Kings

While he is not an All-Star talent, Harrison Barnes is an experienced wing in this league that often gets overlooked. He is a really solid defender and this year, he has stepped up into a bigger role offensively for the Kings.

In 57 games this year, Barnes is averaging 16.0 points, 6.6 rebounds, 3.5 assists and is shooting 38.5% from three-point range. At 28-years-old and set to be 29 in the offseason, Barnes still has plenty of basketball yet to be played in his career and while his contract is rather large, he can contribute to the Wizards immediately.

Barnes is owed $38.6M through the 2022-23 season, but given that they have no talent on the wing, the Wizards could really utilize an experienced, championship-proven forward like Harrison Barnes. He will be a name to watch in NBA trade rumors as a result.

Deni Avdija was drafted 9th overall by this Wizards team with the hope that he could grow into a reliable, young talent, but it will take a few years for him to develop in full. Having a guy like Harrison Barnes to learn from could not only help Avdija as a young player, but adding Barnes gives the Wizards that third, high-level talent that they need to be successful.

Giving up a draft pick and a guy like Davis Bertans definitely makes sense for the Wizards and would still give them a little bit of cap space to potentially add another reliable player at a reasonable price in NBA free agency.
