Clint Capela has emerged as one of the league’s top centers that nobody talks about
Trae Young may be the most valuable player and the best overall player on the Atlanta Hawks roster, but Clint Capela has been their most important player all season long. The Hawks’ center has played in 53 of their 61 total games this season and all season long, he has been a key weapon for them on both ends of the court.
To this point in the season, Clint Capela is averaging 15.5 points, 14.7 rebounds, 2.2 blocks and is shooting 60.1% from the floor. Whether it is creating second-chance opportunities, catching a lob at the rim for an easy two points or blocking shots on the defensive-end of the court, Capela’s impact on the Hawks has been huge this season and he is a huge part of why they have been so successful.

Not only does he currently lead the NBA in rebounds per game, but Clint Capela is right up there with Myles Turner and Rudy Gobert for the league lead in blocks per game. Going back to how good of a rebounder Capela is, he is currently leading the league in offensive rebounds per game and second-chance points created.
Having a guy like Clint Capela who can post 20-20 games like it is nothing is extremely valuable for the Hawks and given how good of a perimeter-oriented team they are, the second-chance points he can create could very well be the difference in them winning a playoff series this year.
