Height and versatility is a huge advantage
Standing about 6’9”, 230 lbs, Scottie Barnes has the ability to play either on the wing or in the low-post as a forward, but as mentioned before, it is his wingspan that has some NBA scouts “drooling” over him. Barnes possesses a 7’2” wingspan, which is one of the largest in the draft given his size and position.
At 6’9”, 230 lbs, many would expect Scottie Barnes to be a traditional, slower forward, but he is quite the opposite. He may not be the fastest player in the draft, but Scottie Barnes has one of the highest motors and is an explosive player.
He can lead a fast break in transition or be on the receiving end of a lob to the rim in transition. He truly is a “point forward” type of player and some similarities to Draymond Green can be made here for Barnes. Personally, I believe Barnes is a better athlete than Draymond, but both guys impact the game in more ways than just scoring.

Scottie Barnes has the tools to be an elite-level defender and he is a really strong passer given that he is a 6’9” forward. Having the ability to play on the wing or in the paint gives Barnes an edge over other forwards in this year’s draft and given his overall understanding of the game, Scottie Barnes is one of the smartest draft prospects on the court.
